Introduction to Group Work Skills

This one-day workshop provides an overview of group work theory and practice. It has a practical basis so that workers experientially learn skills and theory to better enable them to deliver group work programs on topics relevant to their particular clients.

 Learning objectives

By the end of this workshop participants will have had the opportunity to:

  • Consider what types of groups they might run in their work roles
  • Develop an understanding of group development, group norms and roles
  • Learn some strategies to deal with problematic group dynamics
  • Experientially learn different group activities.
